Temple Angkor Wat
Constructed at the apex of the Khmer civilization under king Suryavarman II in the 12th century. This is the large temple that gives the entire region its name. With its moat, this temple covers a massive one and a half kilometer square. There is a very long bas relief documenting the Khmer civilization including elaborate battle scenes along the halls of the temple.

Temple Banteay Srei
This small temple may be one of the oldest of the Angkor civilization, estimated construction was in the 10th century. It has some of the best carvings of any Angkor temple, and also shows influence of design from the Indian subcontinent, a major power at the time.

Temple Ta Prohm
The temple Ta Prohm is famous for having the massive fig tree growing out from the ruins of the building. It was completed in the 12th or 13th century under Jayavarman VII and was dedicated to the ruler's mother.

Temple Bayon
This temple is famous for tis carved faces. Temple Bayon was started under king Jayavarman VII in the 12th century with the faces said to be a mix of the king's likeness and that of Buddha. Like Angkor, this temple has a large collection of Bas Reliefs.

Temple Beng Mealea
This is an 11th century temple largely left to the trees and vines and was only recently (2006) fully cleared of mines. It was built under Suryavarman II.
